Drafts Service Charges for Public | Drafts Service Charges for Govt. |

Funds can be remitted to various branches of State Bank of India/Associate Banks, Standard Chartered Bank, UTI Bank, Centurion Bank and Nepal Bank Limited by means of drafts. Such drawings can also be made on Bank of Bhutan by these agency banks.

A. BOBL Drafts within Bhutan
Bank of Bhutan Limited Drafts are issued on the branches of our Bank at the instance of our customers and parties who desire to make payment to others through the Bank or to obtain payment at some other office and obviate the need for carrying cash.

Application for the issue of drafts would ordinarily be received on Application Form. However, an application by means of letter for issue of Draft would be accepted by us.

The Draft is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Hence, if the Draft is not presented for payment within the six months, it should be revalidated from the issuing branch before presentation for payment. A sum of Nu.40/- would be charged for revalidating the drafts.

If the applicant who had obtained a draft from us desires to obtain payment by cancellation, the draft should be stamped with Bhutan Revenue Stamps worth Nu.1/-. A sum of Nu.45/- would be charged being the cancellation charges.

The applicant can obtain a duplicate draft if the original is misplaced or accidentally destroyed. In this connection, an application should be submitted by the original purchaser of the draft and not by the payee requesting for stop-payment so that the issuing branch can seek non-payment advice from the drawee branch. If the draft is still outstanding in the records of the drawee branch, then the issuing branch would issue the duplicate draft to the applicant with a charges of Nu.20/- for stop-payment and Nu.50/- for issuing of duplicate draft. In addition, Letter of Indemnity would have to be executed by the applicant along with two sureties considered good for the amount involved.
